MUERTE EN PRIMERA CLASE - José María Guelbenzu
MUERTE EN PRIMERA CLASE is the sixth novel of a series of crime novels that began in 2001 and brought us Judge Mariana de Marco, a liberated and independent woman, a lover of good wine and good books, who has a dangerous tendency to investigate beyond what lies under her jurisdiction as a judge.
Julia Cruz, judge Mariana de Marco’s close friend, receives an invitation to go on a luxury cruise on the Nile, one of those trips whose main objective is to bring influential people together. Mariana is trying to recover from the shock caused by an adventure that left her dignity wounded and her heart bruised, and Julia decides that a cruise is exactly what her friend needs.
Onboard all guests seem to gravitate around one figure, a lady of about sixty called Carmen Montezquina, whose natural elegance and firmness of character give her an air of distinction that will quickly catch shrewd Mariana’s attention as she starts to keenly observe every orbit around Montezquina.
However, after a memorable evening when a young woman in the group performs a scandalous and provocative dance number, Carmen vanishes without apparent reason and, despite Julia’s pleas, Mariana de Marco takes it upon herself to embark on a solo investigation which will bring a dark family and financial plot to light.
“Mariana de Marco’s character is like a bomb thrown at the waterline of traditional novels of the genre.” Babelia
“Yet another wonderful whodunnit by Guelbenzu, whose mystery is solved by the increasingly attractive judge Mariana de Marco.” Manuel Rodriguez Ribero, El Pais.
