MAINLANDER - Will Smith
MAINLANDER, the first novel from the unbelievably talented Will Smith – best known as a writer performer with a career spanning stand-up, acting and writing. Will was a writer for and starred in the THICK OF IT and more recently has worked as writer and co-producer on Emmy-winning HBO series VEEP.
Set in 1987 on the island of Jersey, MAINLANDER, introduces us to a cast of utterly compelling and deeply flawed characters, and through them paints a vivid picture of the claustrophobic nature of island life when a young boy goes missing. It’s a book about loneliness, about not belonging and about the corroding effects of keeping secrets. This is a compelling debut which is at once dark and peppered with wit.
The novel was sold on a partial to Harper Collins who will publish in February 2015 and although it stands alone there is the potential to turn it into a series.
