MY FATHER ALWAYS EMBARRESSES ME
Efraim’s dad is always embarrassing him. Sleeping in late, singing loudly on his bike, telling silly stories about dwarves in dresses, and acting scared at the movies. Then comes the most embarrassing moment of all: he bakes the ugliest cake ever for the annual school bake-off. But Efraim's dad has a surprise planned, and Efraim learns that maybe his dad isn't so embarrassing after all.
THE UNDERPLATE
When Efrat's father finally allows her to help set the table before supper, she opens up the cupboard and hears a strange voice calling to her: "Me ... me ... Please take me." It is the voice of the Underplate - the plate on the bottom of the pile, the one that never gets to come out of the cupboard. This sets into motion a cupboard revolution and the opportunity for all plates (and cups and bowls and spoons and forks and other inanimate objects) to be given equal opportunities at the table.
